Beautiful venue with fantastic ambience and endless usage opportunities. We attended a wedding reception here and it was fantastic, the venue was very elegantly decked out with fairy lights adorning the barns beams. A great space with outdoor areas available that is only a 10 minute drive away from Elstree/Borehamwood. There are plenty of hotel options nearby
I had my wedding here in May 2019. In the build up to the day the venue owners were excellent, and couldn’t have been more accommodating. The day itself was wonderful - albeit bar a couple of setbacks, such as a white van being left next to the main guest entrance despite a guarantee it would be moved, and some underwhelming and hastily planted flowerbeds by the same entrance. However, the behaviour of the venue owners in the period following has left me with a bitter taste, and I would warn others considering the venue to be careful what you’re getting into. It has certainly left me feeling as though their pre-event positivity was nothing more than a ruse to lull us into a false sense of security. We were hit with several fines relating to contract small print not pointed out to us in advance, which led to us losing a sizeable portion of our deposit. Most of these fines related to organisational aspects of the day (such as not notifying the venue of the precise number of cars to be left in the car park) rather than damages or losses. The other suppliers we used on the day have all stated how unprecedented such actions are in the events business. We’ve been left deflated by the whole experience - especially as the venue have now stopped replying to our emails. The barn looks lovely, and we had a fantastic day. But based on our experiences dealing with the venue in the weeks following, I would urge extreme caution to anyone considering this as an events venue and suggest you look elsewhere.
Great venue with amazing owners! I helped put together an event here with Igloo Disco and couldn't have been happier with how both myself and our equipment were maintained during the event. Would be a pleasure to work at Rowley Barn again in the future!
It makes me very sad to be writing this review. My son and his fiancé’s wedding day at Rowley Barn was amazing and we had a wonderful day. But the memories of the day have been spoilt by the actions of the owners of the barn in their attempts to keep the deposit. Their method of activating this was aggressive and overly officious especially given their friendliness prior to the event. None of the charges that were levied had cost the owners any money and could have been avoided had they been mentioned during the many friendly conversations that were held prior to the event. It appears that they simply wished to retain as much of the deposit as possible. I am both angry and sad that this behaviour has caused such upset to my son and his new wife and has tainted their memories of their wonderful wedding day. I would have to advise caution to anyone wishing to hold a special event at this venue.
